Big Bags for the Mining Industry
Mining cargo wears packaging harder than anything else. Quartz sand, ore concentrates and ground minerals are abrasive: during filling and handling they scour the fabric from inside, while high bulk density puts a large mass into a small bag volume.
Hence the design requirements: heavy fabric at the top of the range, a four-loop construction and reinforced seams. The bag ends up compact but heavy — its geometry is calculated so that it does not lean when lifted and stands squarely in the stack.
Fine materials such as kaolin and bentonite additionally require a liner: without one the finest fraction sifts through the weave and transfer losses become noticeable. For bulk shipments by full wagon, container and railcar liners are more economical.

What fabric weight should abrasive cargo use?
Towards the upper limit — 200–220 g/m². Abrasive material scours the fabric from inside, and on light material the bag loses its design strength faster than it uses up its cycle life.
Do kaolin and bentonite need a liner?
Yes. The finest fraction passes through the weave of polypropylene fabric — without a liner losses at every transfer are noticeable and the product creates dust during handling.
Can bags used for abrasive cargo be reused?
Not without inspection: internal fabric wear is not always visible from outside, and the design safety factor is reduced. The decision is made after examination.
