Big Bags for Petrochemicals and Polymers
Petrochemicals place a requirement on packaging that other industries do not — electrostatic safety. Pouring polymer granules and powders into an ordinary bag builds up charge, and in an explosive atmosphere a discharge can cause ignition.
Antistatic designs are therefore used: Type C with conductive threads and mandatory grounding, or Type D, which dissipates charge without connection to an earthing circuit. The choice depends on whether the grounding procedure is enforced on site — if it cannot be guaranteed, Type D is safer.
The industry's second requirement is product purity. Polymer feedstock goes on to further processing, and polypropylene fibres from the fabric are unacceptable. A liner solves this — and for antistatic bags the liner must itself be antistatic, otherwise the protection is defeated.

FAQ
Which type should I choose — C or D?
Type C if the grounding procedure is strictly enforced on site and an earthing point is available. Type D if grounding is impossible or cannot be guaranteed — it works without any connection.
Can granules be shipped in an ordinary big bag?
Only if the area classification and product properties allow it. In an explosive atmosphere an ordinary Type A bag accumulates charge and creates an ignition risk.
Why does an antistatic bag need an antistatic liner?
Ordinary polyethylene film inside a conductive bag accumulates charge itself and reduces the protection to zero. The assembly is selected as a whole — bag and liner together.
